Non Woven VS Woven Filter Fabric
Jun 13, 2023
Nonwoven filter fabric is made by bonding fibers together mechanically, chemically, or thermally without using weaving or knitting techniques. The resulting material has a random arrangement of fibers and is usually more porous compared to woven fabrics. Nonwoven filter fabric is commonly used for air and liquid filtration, medical products, geotextiles, and industrial applications.
Woven filter fabric, on the other hand, is made through the process of weaving, where yarns are interlaced into a specific pattern to create a tight-knit fabric. Woven filter fabrics are typically more durable and have a higher tensile strength compared to nonwoven fabrics. They are commonly used in applications such as bag filters, membrane filters, and machine filters.
The choice between nonwoven and woven filter fabrics depends on the specific filtration application and the required properties of the fabric. Nonwoven filter fabrics are generally more cost-effective, lightweight, and offer higher filtration efficiency, while woven filter fabrics are more durable and have a longer lifespan.
