How Non Wovens Are Created
Dec 27, 2023
Nonwoven fabric is a nonwoven material that is made by the random accumulation of fibers rather than the interweaving of threads in traditional textile processes. Nonwoven technology is widely used in many industries, including medical, packaging, construction and automotive. This article will introduce the manufacturing process of non-woven fabrics in detail.
1. Raw material preparation
The first step in non-woven manufacturing is to prepare raw materials. Generally, the raw materials of non-woven fabrics include polyester fiber, viscose fiber, polypropylene fiber, etc. These raw materials need to be screened, cleaned, and dried before manufacturing to ensure their quality and purity.
2. Sort out
Carding is an important step in the manufacture of non-woven fabrics, the purpose of which is to turn raw materials into a uniform fiber web. During the carding process, the raw materials pass through the high-speed rotating carding needle plate, and the fiber web is made into sheets of certain specifications through the puncture effect of the needle plate.

3. Hot pressing
Hot pressing is a key link in the manufacturing of non-woven fabrics. Its function is to bond the carded fiber webs together under high temperatures and high pressure. During the hot-pressing process, the fiber web is placed between two hot-pressing rollers. Under the action of high temperature and high pressure, the fibers in the fiber web will soften and melt, thereby bonding different fiber webs together.
4. Cooling and winding
The hot-pressed non-woven fabric needs to be cooled and rolled to become the final product. The purpose of cooling is to fully cool and shape the fibers in the non-woven fabric after melting to ensure the stability and smoothness of the non-woven fabric. Winding is to roll the non-woven fabric into a roll of certain specifications for easy storage and transportation.
5. Quality inspection and packaging
After the non-woven fabric is manufactured, a series of quality inspections are required to ensure that the quality of the non-woven fabric meets the requirements. Quality inspection includes appearance inspection, thickness inspection, strength inspection, etc. Non-woven fabrics that pass the test will be packaged for customer use. The manufacturing process of non-woven fabrics involves multiple complex processes and technologies, which require professional equipment and technical personnel to complete. With the continuous advancement of science and technology and the expansion of application fields, non-woven technology is also constantly developing and improving, and more new non-woven materials and manufacturing processes will appear in the future.
