How to make PP non-woven fabric
May 10, 2024
Producing PP non-woven fabric involves several steps:
Polypropylene Granules: The process begins with polypropylene granules, which are the raw material used to make the fabric.
Extrusion: The polypropylene granules are melted and extruded into fine threads through a spinneret. This process is similar to how spaghetti is made using a pasta maker.
Formation of Web: The extruded threads are then laid down onto a moving conveyor belt in a random arrangement to form a web. This web acts as the foundation for the non-woven fabric.
Bonding: The web of extruded threads undergoes a bonding process to strengthen the fabric. There are several methods for bonding, including heat bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical bonding.

Calendering: After bonding, the fabric may pass through calendering rollers to improve its smoothness and uniformity. Calendering involves pressing the fabric between heated rollers to flatten and compress it.
Finishing: Depending on the desired properties of the final fabric, additional finishing processes may be applied. These can include treatments for water repellency, flame retardancy, or coloration.
Cutting and Packaging: Finally, the PP non-woven fabric is cut to the desired size and packaged for distribution and use in various applications such as medical masks, hygiene products, agriculture, automotive, and more.
